Vollebak

Humanoids

Overview

After months of throwing ideas back and forth, enter Vollebak Humanoids: five human-like creatures from beyond time, hunters chasing Vollebak jackets across the universe.

Psyop had been developing an AI-driven platform since 2020 for crafting metahumans, building on an earlier project called HUMXN. When we showed it to the client, they were hooked, and we set out to take five of their jackets and rebuild them, stitch by stitch, as the Humanoids.

We treated each jacket like a real garment: the pattern taken apart and stitched back together in software the same way it would be on a cutting table, then rigged to the character and fitted the way a tailor fits a client, checking whether it sat right, whether it needed to be baggier or longer. Because the Humanoids live in Unreal Engine, everything runs in real time, no pre-rendered frames. The material responds instantly, wrinkling as an arm lifts, catching the wind, calculating it all in microseconds. That's the level of precision we brought to both the texture and the drape, so the jackets don't just look right, they move right.

Around that foundation, we cast AI talent, built AI-generated backgrounds and voices, and assembled it all inside Unreal so the Humanoids could exist and move as living things rather than baked animation.

To launch the films, Vollebak drove a spaceship around London handing out flyers to their Spaceshop pop-up, then parked it inside a brutalist space in the heart of the city, where the Humanoids loomed on a floor-to-ceiling screen. You can see the spaceship touring London HERE, photos of the launch party HERE, and the Humanoids themselves on social HERE.

We're now working to make the Humanoids interactive using AI, as a screen or hologram you can speak to and question about the jackets they've hunted down.
